WALLS OF JERICHO To Support STONE SOUR In Japan
January 6, 2007WALLS OF JERICHO, Detroit's own hardcore warriors, have been chosen as direct support for KITTIE beginning the first week in February. This tour will be their first club tour of 2007, and the band is looking forward to pounding the pavement again, says vocalist Candace Kucsulain. "What we are especially looking forward to on this tour is the kind of kids who will come out to these shows, kids that are dedicated, open-minded, and genuinely excited to be there, who want to put as much energy into this as we do," she says.
WALLS OF JERICHO are known for being road warriors, and have been through a whirlwind of tours over the past few months, including Ozzfest with UNEARTH and ATREYU this summer, Family Values Tour with KORN and DEFTONES this fall, and most recently, Brazil and Europe in November and December. This was the band's first time in South America, and the fan response was phenomenal. "Brazil was so much fun," says Kucsulain. "The kids were out of their mind. Since they don't get a lot of shows, they were fiending for something, and they just let it all out."
After Brazil was a short tour in the U.K. with SEVENTH CROSS, which got rave reviews in the British press. However, Candace says that their European run on the Persistence Tour with SICK OF IT ALL, TERROR, COMEBACK KID, and MADBALL was one of her favorite parts of 2006. "The Persistence Tour was by far one of the one of the best hardcore lineups I have ever been out with," she says. "Everyone was on fire, because you knew every single band up there was good, and there was so much power on that stage to watch every night. I even got to go on stage and sing with Lou from SICK OF IT ALL, who I find really inspiring." Candace also points out that Ozzfest was a big highlight of the past year, similarly due to the fantastic lineup and good-natured vibes of the other bands. "All of Ozzfest was amazing; the tour had a real family vibe, and everyone was such great friends," she says.
When asked what the band is looking forward to in 2007, the first thing that comes to Kucsulain's mind is their upcoming spring dates (May 21-25) with STONE SOUR in Japan. She says, "This will be our first time in Japan, and we are so beyond excited. We did Family Values tour with STONE SOUR, and they are such a kick-ass band that I was listening to them in my car every day after that tour. Their stage sound is so powerful and heavy, they are all about rocking out."
WALLS OF JERICHO is continuing to tour in support of its recently released third Trustkill LP, "With Devils Amongst Us All", which has received a downpour of critical acclaim, and earned them feature coverage in Revolver, Outburn, Metal Edge, Rock Sound, Alternative Press, Hit Parader, and Decibel.
