'World's Fastest Drummer' Contest To Be Held Next Month In Austin

June 27, 2006

Do you have what it takes to be NAMM's international fastest drummer?

NAMM International continues its quest to find the "World's Fastest Drummer". This highly charged interactive event is a feature at this year's summer NAMM show in Austin, TX. The contest — which consists of two categories: Fastest Hands and Fastest Feet — will be held each day on The NAMM Fastest Drummer 4th Street Lobby Stage at the Austin Convention Center starting at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, with "heats" continuing through Saturday until 5:00 p.m. The top ten Fastest Hands and top ten Fastest Feet will compete in a "Finals Battle" of both categories held Sunday, July 16.

Included in this year's event will be technical demonstrations, insight sessions and appearances by WFD champions and world record holders. "To see these guys with world records of 1,200 strokes in a minute go at it, full-throttle, smooth as silk, with their hands and feet moving over 20 times per second for a full 60-second run is simply an amazing work of technical proficiency," says Boo McAfee, co-founder of Extreme Sport Drumming.

The NAMM International Fastest Drummer Contest is sponsored by TheMusicEdge.com, NAMM's new teen promotional initiative and is open to anyone attending this year's NAMM summer session. Please Note: NAMM is a "trade only" convention and is NOT open to the general public.

"We are also very pleased to announce that World Fastest Drummer organization, along with the fine folks at NAMM International have launched a Fastest Drummer retail participation program called 'The Music Edge Fastest Drummer Program'," added Craig Alan, co-founder of Extreme Sport Drumming. "The program is presently in 36 states and allows each NAMM retailer the opportunity to fully participate in this extremely exciting international event. The store's winner can advance to compete for over $12,000 in grand prizes!"

Grand prizes for this year's contest include: Two Pearl drum sets, a year supply of ProMark drum sticks (with winner's name),two sets of Meinl cymbals, Axis LongBoard "A" double pedal and 50 Remo drum heads, and much more.

Contestants should sign in at NAMM Fastest Drummer Contest stage area located at the 4th street lobby stage in The Austin Convention Center starting the morning of Friday, July 14.
