ZAO Announce New Album Title, Ask Fans To Pick Setlist

February 9, 2006

Greensburg, Pennsylvania's ZAO have set "The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here" as the title of their forthcoming CD, due early summer via Ferret Music. The band recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago with the studio's famed owner, Steve Albini, at the helm. Albini approached ZAO himself and captured their intense energy (with the use of analog tape and absolutely no computer technology!) as he has for countless important bands including NIRVANA, THE PIXIES, HIGH ON FIRE and NEUROSIS, to name a few.

"We've looked up to Steve Albini for as long as we can remember and working with him was a dream come true," said bass player Marty Lunn, who makes his recorded debut with "The Fear..." after years of tour managing ZAO. "Steve felt like part of the band in just a couple of days." A limited edition version with deluxe packaging and a DVD documenting the making of the album will be in stores alongside the standard version. Among the songtitles: "Cancer Eater", "Physician Heal Thyself", "American Sheets On The Deathbed", "Killing Time 'Til It's Time To Die" and "Kingdom Of Thieves".

ZAO are on tour now with IN FLAMES and TRIVIUM and will start the Ferret Music Tour in the spring, co-headlining with MADBALL and REMEMBERING NEVER.

And as a nod to their diehard and cult like fans, ZAO have asked THEM to pick the songs they will play when they headline this spring's Ferret Music Tour.

"We really wanted to give something back to everyone who has given so much to ZAO over the years," remarked singer Daniel Weyandt. "This felt like a cool and interesting thing to do."

ZAO fans are invited to suggest songs via their MySpace page (myspace.com/zao). Suggestions will be compiled and the band will formulate their set list based on the most popular requests, throwing in a couple of new tracks for good measure.

What's fair game? ANY song from their rich catalog dating back to Weyandt's first album with the band ("Where Blood & Fire Bring Rest") all the way through their Ferret Music debut, "The Funeral Of God".
