GHOST Forced To Pull Out Of U.K.'s DOWNLOAD Festival

June 12, 2016

Swedish occult rockers GHOST have been forced to cancel their appearance at the U.K.'s Download festival.

The band was scheduled to take to the Maverick Stage at 6:25 p.m. today (Sunday, June 12) but called off its set after frontman Papa Emeritus III fell ill.

GHOST issued a statement via the festival's official Twitter account, saying: "We regret to inform you that due to a severe case of laryngitis, GHOST will not be able to perform at Download 2016."

It is not present clear if any other GHOST shows will be affected. The band's next performance is scheduled for June 15 in Norway.

GHOST is continuing to tour in support of its 2015 album, "Meliora". A new EP, consisting mainly of covers, was recently completed and is expected later in the year.
