HALESTORM's LZZY HALE: Why I Don't Have A Driver License
February 25, 2019In a recent interview with Australia's Keen Eye 4 Concerts, HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale was asked to reveal one thing about herself that she wouldn't normally tell a journalist. She said: "Something that I don't normally tell, and it's not necessarily because I wanna keep it from anybody — I just don't think about it — but one thing about me that not a whole lot of people know and that never really gets brought up is that I actually don't have a driver's license. I've never taken a driver's test. I've gotten my permit a couple of times that I've gone out driving, but legally, I'm just never behind the wheel. And this is the person that wrote [the HALESTORM song] 'Don't Know How To Stop'. [Laughs] … Well, technically, [that track is] more about my career than about a car. So there's that."
As for why she never got a driver license, Lzzy said: "There isn't even a good reason. Over the years, there's certain things that just get lower and lower on the priority list, to the point that you just don't think about them anymore until maybe somebody says, 'Well, hey, I've had too much to drink, and maybe you should drive.' And I'd be, like, 'I don't have a license. I'm not taking you home.' So that's the only time that it gets brought up."
HALESTORM's latest album, "Vicious", was released last July via Atlantic. The disc was recorded at Nashville, Tennesse's Rock Falcon recording studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz.
HALESTORM was nominated for a "Best Rock Performance" Grammy Award for its song "Uncomfortable".
In 2012, the band won its first Grammy in the category of "Best Hard Rock/ Metal Performance" for "Love Bites (So Do I)". According to the Grammy web site, Lzzy became the first woman to earn a Grammy in the category.
HALESTORM has announced a month-long North American tour, kicking off April 12 at Ladson, South Carolina's 98 Rockfest and running through Columbus, Ohio's Sonic Temple, with dates across the continent, including a stop at Mexico City's Domination Festival in early May. PALAYE ROYALE and BEASTO BLANCO will open for HALESTORM on the run of dates, which follow HALESTORM's trek abroad in March with performances at Download festival in Australia and Japan.
