ANKLA Joined By DIVINE EMPIRE's J.P. SOARS

December 18, 2006

ANKLA, the Los Angeles-based band led by former PUYA guitarist Ramón Ortíz, has issued the following update:

"As we approach the end of 2006, we want to take a moment to be thankful for all the good things that happened to ANKLA this year — the signing with Bieler Brothers, the release of 'Steep Trails' [the band's debut album], our first tour on the East Coast with NONPOINT, the love from all the fans we met on the road and so many other things. Right now we are setting up a lot of great stuff for the up coming year, the signing with TKO Booking being one of them, the rest we'll announce as we go.

"We wish Edgar Gonzales [former bassist] a prompt recovery and best of luck. We also want to thank Dave and Tony for helping us with bass duties.

"We have two shows before the end of the year with SEPULTURA (Dec. 21 at the Whisky, Hollywood) and DEVILDRIVER (Dec. 31 in Fresno). Playing bass we'll have the band's newest member, legendary Floridian death metaller J.P. Soars (DIVINE EMPIRE, MALEVOLENT CREATION).

"2007 looks like the year of the ANKLA!"

ANKLA's debut album, "Steep Trails", was released in July via Bieler Bros. Records. The CD features twelve tracks produced by Bob Marlette (SEETHER, ILL NINO, BLACK SABBATH).
