As a result of a tremendous increase in traffic since the anthrax terrorist attacks started, ANTHRAX (the band) have decided to move their official web site to http://www.anthraxtheband.com. According to a statement issued by anthraxheband.com webmaster Brent, “we've been getting immense numbers of hits (at times greater than starwars.com got to download the new Episode II movie trailer!) and need to change the name to curb the erroneous hits from people seeking information on the disease. Anthrax.com will be mothballed for now and possibly reappear at a later date when traffic is more manageable. As for now, all the latest and greatest from the world's most notorious band will at www.AnthraxTheBand.com. The new address will link to the same present site we all know and love.”

According to an article in the current issue of Britain's Terrorizer magazine, the classic CELTIC FROST line-up of guitarist/vocalist Tom G. Warrior (aka Thomas Gabriel Fischer),bassist Martin Eric Ain and drummer Reed St. Mark recently held round table talks in Manhattan about a possible FROST album and tour in 2002. An anonymous “reliable source close to the band” is quoted as saying that “they've been meeting for a couple of years talking about this and were very inspired by doing the [CELTIC FROST] CD reissues. The intention is to meet in San Antonio and Zurich at the end of this year and into next year. They want to hit the studio in spring and have an album out in the autumn.” Although no details were divulged, the article reveals that rehearsal space, album costs, album and song titles and even touring plans have all been discussed at length. “They plan to do something in the tradition of their best albums,” the same source confirmed. “The album will be very modern, but there will be a lot of typical FROST sounds on it.” There are also plans to warm up the band with “some very special shows” prior to some extensive touring next year, according to the magazine. CELTIC FROST are said to be “on the brink” of signing new recording and publishing deals, with an official announcement expected soon. As reported here yesterday, a cryptic message on the group's official web site at www.celticfrost.com indicates that “an exclusive announcement will be posted on [the official web site] as soon as it appears that all relevant technical and logistical details have been decided upon regarding the current CF reformation. (Yes, I know some of you might be thinking, 'Well, we've heard that one before...!' Trust me, that is not the case this time.).”

Former SPIRITUAL BEGGARS bassist/vocalist Christian “Spice” Sjöstrand has issued an official statement regarding his departure from the group (originally reported here back on May 17th and subsequently denied (falsely) by the band's management) and his present full-time involvement with THE MUSHROOM RIVER BAND. According to Spice, 'it's no secret that we've had difficulties in BEGGARS through the years, [but we had] sorted it out and continued,” the frontman revealed in an account originally posted at www.meteorcity.com. “The thought of leaving has been there for a long time and I actually quit in late 1999 but was talked into coming back. Becoming a member of THE MUSHROOM RIVER BAND was a relief and it restored my faith in music. Playing in a band with friends for the fun of it was a real joy. So when something happened this spring that made it impossible for me to keep on playing with BEGGARS, I didn't hesitate to quit. It was an easy decision as well as the only possible decision. My choice is to not discuss the reasons further in the media I guess you all have to wait for my autobiography which will be out in about 20 years...'

...

THE MUSHROOM RIVER BAND is continuing the recording process for their second full-length album, tentatively entitled Simsalabim, which is due in March 2002. If everything goes as planned it'll be a very good package with us headlining. That's all I can say at the moment.'
