BOSTON: DELP Tribute Participants Are Still Up In The Air
June 19, 2007The Boston Globe reports: No wonder the band BOSTON hasn't reunited in more than 25 years. The dinosaur act is so dysfunctional that Live Nation issued two press releases yesterday announcing an Aug. 19 concert honoring late singer Brad Delp. The first release said that original members Sib Hashian, Barry Goudreau, Fran Sheehan, Fran Cosmo, and Tom Scholz would share the stage at the Bank of America Pavilion extravaganza. But in a second release three hours later, Scholz's name was missing. What gives? In a statement e-mailed late yesterday, Scholz sought to clarify, but managed to be even more mystifying. He said BOSTON will play six or seven songs, but he didn't specify which BOSTON — the band that broke records in 1976 with "More than a Feeling" or the lineup on 1994's "Walk On"? He did say Michael Sweet of STRYPER, STARSHIP's Mickey Thomas, and Sammy Hagar have offered to sing in place of Delp. To close the show, Scholz said: "We have invited Barry Goudreau, Fran Sheehan, and Sib Hashian to join us onstage for 'Don't Look Back', which will be sung by Fran Cosmo . . . All of us are currently very busy with other projects, including completing some new BOSTON studio recordings. However, we are excited about getting together for this short performance."
