DAVE MUSTAINE: It Is Just A Matter Of Time Until 'Megadeth Radio' Is Back

April 22, 2010

Earlier this week, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine officially "pulled the plug" on MEGADETH's "predictably unpredictable" Artist Personal Experience radio station, "Megadeth Radio", which officially launched in October 2009.

He has since issued the following update:

"Now that I have proved that I can do it, it is just a matter of time until Megadeth Radio is back.

"I had various opportunities approach us in the beginning and many since word got out I was moving on. And even though it ended, seemingly badly, I still had fun with this. That, and it wasn't 'bad.' It was great!

"Thanks to all of you that made the extensive threads of all of the corrections, all of the suggestions, and whatever else we all did to try to make it great. I did see the dozens of pages of mistakes that you spotted; trust me I saw them, too.

"The station was great, it just wasn't the 'greatest,' and that is the standard I have set for myself.

"This also gives me plenty of time to work on our new record, to continue to grow TheLiveLine.com [a service Mustaine launched that enables musicians to connect to their audience over the phone], and most importantly, to take care of myself, so I can take care of business.

"Please don't get upset with the guys over at the old station; they told me that Clear Channel has computers that are old and don't work well, and that they won't upgrade them for me, or anybody, and that was all I needed.

"I had a lot of fun, learned a lot, and now I can spend that time working on my family, working on the dozens of projects that we have on the burners where there weren't even stoves before. There were also the amazing opportunities to listen so many cool songs by my peers and my contemporaries, and for that I am truly grateful.

"I just want to make sure now that I have been able to put some distance in-between me and the project that you don't think it had anything to do with the guys there. I guess there is some kind of glitch, and you know me; I can't do anything unless it is done to the best of my abilities!

"So on to the really great news. Electra [Dave's daughter] scored three goals on her soccer game today, and I am so proud of her.

"You go, girl!!!"

Mustaine had complete creative control in the programming of his 24-hour Megadeth Radio channel, which featured interviews, news, personal commentary, and playlists of his favorite music. Between the musical selections, Mustaine could be heard talking about a variety of topics, including his band's influences, the subject matter for their songs, and his soon-to-open San Diego guitar/music school, where he plans to teach underprivileged youths.
