Ex-DEATH/MASSACRE Frontman KAM LEE: 'I Don't Ever Disrespect The True Fans'

August 10, 2006

Former DEATH/MASSACRE frontman Kam Lee has posted the following message on his MySpace page:

"As some of you may know... fucking Blabbermouth/Roadrunner Records has posted my blog section about how I feel about the 'current metal scene'... once more taking out of context of what I'm attempting to really say and posting only what they want to post.

"Why not post my blog section about how I feel about the true fans...

[EDITOR'S NOTE: BLABBERMOUTH.NET reproduced Kam Lee's August 7, 2006 blog entry in its entirety — no sections were left out. A link was provided to Kam's MySpace page so that people could read the rest of his blog entries and gather additional information before forming their opinion. Furthermore, Roadrunner Records — which merely hosts this site — had absolutely nothing to do with Kam's words being posted on BLABBERMOUTH.NET.]

"I don't ever disrespect the true fans... I hold them in high regards, and I'll give anyone the chance to be open-minded... about any style of music.

"If you like whatever style of music you like... I don't care, but don't invade and over-saturate the scene (metal - punk - or whatever scene) with shit, and expect the consumer to know what is good and what is crap.

"When you put full-page glossy ads in every magazine to sell your crap so you can have a larger tax write-off at the end of the year.... just what the fuck are you trying to do.

"Trick the consumer, that's what!

"O.K. — how about this... what if I decide to tell new bands out there to beware of all the rip-off artists in these so-called record companies!

"Will you post that?!

"I don't think so!

"About how some record companies try and trick a new band into signing some ridiculous 7- or 8-album deal... and how much the band members never see a penny!

"Sure, you give 'em the cash to record in the studio, you give 'em tour support, and you pay for big glossy ads and front the cash for the merchandise.

"Yet, do you really let them know that they have to pay you back first before they see any money?

"Do you know how many bands that have fallen victim to this scam.

"Most record companies are nothing but 'legal loan sharks'...

"Sure, it's all in the contract... sure, it states that in legal terms and is put into words that makes it seem like the record companies have the bands' best intrest in mind...

"Yet, do the bands know that if their records don't sell the expected amout to recover the monies paid out... that they will be held legally responsible to pay back that given amount or the band will end up 'in the red?'

"Shit... I could go on and on about this shit, but really no one really gives a fuck!

"So why is it that anyone really gives a fuck about what I think or what I say?

"Don't try and say you don't, because why would you post my blog if you didn't."
