IRON MAIDEN To Rock Dubai With 'Pyrotechnic Show'

February 11, 2009

Khaleej Times Online reports that heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN touched down on Dubai, United Arab Emirates soil last night (Wednesday, February 10),as they prepare for Friday's explosive gig in Media City.

Lead singer Bruce Dickinson, a qualified airline pilot, flew the group's private plane Ed Force One into the emirate as they begin the final leg of their 14-month Somewhere Back In Time World Tour.

The 50-year-old frontman was joking with members of the press minutes after arriving in the UAE. "I've got a black eye," he told Khaleej Times when asked if the band still embarked on their rock and roll shenanigans of yesteryear. However, he went on to add that the injury was sustained while competing in a fencing tournament at the weekend. "We enjoy what we do, and if it's a really good show we'll go out after and have long discussions into the night," he added with a wry smile.
