JANI LANE: 'I'm More Than Willing To Face The Consequences For My Bad Decisions'

July 22, 2010

Former WARRANT singer Jani Lane — who pled no contest to DUI on July 19 stemming from his most recent arrest back in May and has been ordered to serve 120 days in jail — has released the following statement (courtesy of the Everything Jani Lane fan site):

"I'm not founded on the notion that any press is good press.

"I'm more than willing to face the consequences for my bad decisions.

"I'm extremely remorseful about how this has affected my family, friends and fans.

"I have done a ton of soul searching.

"This is not a situation I ever dreamed of finding myself in, but here I am. I will walk through this and take it as a wake-up call.

"I believe everything happens for a reason.

"This comes at a time when I am writing some of the best music of my life.

"I intend to 'man up,' get through this and release something new in the fall-winter of this year.

"I will do several shows this holiday season simply because I love to perform and the fans deserve to see me at my best.

"I want to thank all my friends and fans who have expressed their amazing support, and especially my wife and children, who continue to surround me with love.

"This is one of the most trying times and yet enlightening that I've ever faced.

"I'll be back...and more determined than ever.

"I love the WARRANT songs. I wrote them from the heart, but I have a side to my songwriting that a lot of people may be unaware of... I intend to change that!

"To the guys in WARRANT...I wish you the best as well.

"My true hope is that anyone out there dealing with personal problems... the consequences do not get lighter.

"I can only say I've never regretted a good decision or action and never been proud of bad ones.

"People have an astounding ability to forgive... I have to start with forgiving myself. That is something that I find far more difficult than I imagined. I think it starts with gratitude. Today I'm grateful.

"Thank you for reading...

"P.S.: A personal from-the-depths-of-my-soul thank-you to my beautiful wife and children. Without you I would not have the strength or desire to do what I have to do! My love is eternal... I will never let you or myself down again. To the thousands of supportive fans... you amaze me... I will do my very best to return the favor!"

In addition to Lane serving 120 days in jail, he will lose his license for three years and will have to complete a 30-month alcohol-education program.

Jani is scheduled to surrender on July 27, according to TMZ.com.

LAPD arrested Lane in Woodland Hills, California on May 9 after the black Infiniti sedan he was driving allegedly hit a parked car.

According to TMZ.com, Lane blew more than twice the legal limit of .08 when officers gave him a breathalyzer test at the police station.

Back in February 2010, a warrant was issued for Jani Lane after he failed to show up to two court appearances connected to his 2009 DUI conviction.

Lane was scheduled to appear in court on February 23 to show the judge he's completed his alcohol classes and community service — but he never showed.

The court date was rescheduled for February 24... but Lane missed that one as well.

In July 2009, Lane pled no contest to one count of misdemeanor DUI stemming from an incident where he hit a parked car back in June 2009.

The 45-year-old singer was busted on June 17, 2009 when he allegedly hit a parked car in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles. Lane refused to take a sobriety test.

When asked in a May 18, 2009 interview with "The Johnny Dare Morning Show" how he managed to "get straight," Jani replied, "It's just a matter of deciding you're done, in my opinion. I mean, that probably oversimplifies it, but really, really and truly you have to go, 'You know what? I'm done with this. I don't like feeling like this, I don't like living like this.' And it's also nice to get the creativity back, which is impossible to flow when you're unconscious."

Lane originally left WARRANT in 2002 to pursue a solo career. He released a solo album, "Back Down to One", in 2003, but shortly after was admitted to a rehab center for alcohol and drug-related exhaustion. He also appeared on VH1's reality series "Celebrity Fit Club".

WARRANT announced in September 2008 that it was splitting with Jani Lane six months after the band first reunited with the troubled vocalist. He has since been replaced by Robert Mason (LYNCH MOB, CRY OF LOVE, BIG COCK).
