JOEY BELLADONNA Says 'It's Great To Be Back' In ANTHRAX

June 7, 2005

Powerslave.com recently conducted an interview with ANTHRAX vocalist Joey Belladonna. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Powerslave.com: Tell me what it means to you and the band to be back onstage playing music?

Joey Belladonna: "It is one of those things where it's great to be back! I respect the musicianship of this band, and it's an honor. I am happy to take on another shot at this. It's really one of those great natural things and I'm happy with what we've been doing so far!"

Powerslave.com: Did you ever think this line up would reunite?

Joey Belladonna: "I had my ideas of how and when this whole thing was gonna play out. I was wondering how long it would take, where they'd want to switch gears. To change is not an easy task. There was a certain chemistry we had and that can't be recreated. It's just impossible, and I'm glad they feel that way too."

Powerslave.com: Can you tell me about the [upcoming] DVD?

Joey Belladonna: "We've been filming all this since it first happened. We've filmed all our live shows so far, and there are plenty more outtakes. We filmed a lot of us just getting together and hanging out."

Powerslave.com: Is there a possibility of this reunited Anthrax making any new music together?

Joey Belladonna: "Anything at all is possible. As a fan, it only seems logical over the years. Everyone's gone out and done so many different things. We'll see if it works out, and if it does, then we'll spend time, because we don't want to rush it. We haven't talked about it, so to be honest I'm just as interested as you are. It's all possible but up in the air at this point. We may or may not."

Powerslave.com: What are some of the newer heavy bands you are into, if any?

Joey Belladonna: "I listen to so many bands nowadays. FEAR FACTORY, FOO FIGHTERS, SEVENDUST, just all kinds of metal. Also STAIND. There is so much new stuff out there that is really neat.

"I met Dave Grohl once, and he was in awe. To have someone like that be that way to meet me, it's an honor. A lot of people come out to our shows and they're really into it. They see the hard work we put into it and the quality that comes out. I do also notice a lot of different people of various age groups, and I appreciate that. It's a nice gesture, and it's nice to give back. It's nice to not be a dud. We put on a great time, and everyone comes out and jams. We love it! It’s been a long time!"
