KORN Frontman Tackles Global Warming On New CD

According Korn Underground, singer Jonathan Davis has revealed details of a number of tracks off KORN's upcoming eighth studio album in a recent preview in Rolling Stone magazine.

In the past few years, Davis has dealt with alcoholism, drug addiction and a near-fatal blood disease. Now fully recovered, he's funneling the years of physical and mental stress into KORN's eighth album.

One of the first songs he wrote for the project — produced by pop trio The Matrix (who gave the tracks they worked on a slight pop gloss) and Trent Reznor collaborator Atticus Ross (who added and industrial edge) — is called "Starting Over".

"The chorus is 'I'm starting over and shit's going to take me out,'" says Davis.

On "Evolutionary Stop"Davis tackles global warming. "It's not like political Al Gore kind of bullshit," Davis says. "It's just me wondering, 'Are my kids' kids going to have a place to live?'"

In a KORN first, the band has added a keyboardist to the mix — which gives the songs a fuller sound. "I don't want to say this album is heavy, because that pisses off the band," Davis says. "It's still the KORN sound, just definitely more atmospheric. There's more depth to it."

KORN's as-yet-untitled eighth studio album is due for release in July, according to Virgin Records.
