LACUNA COIL's Next Album Could Be 'Way Heavier,' Says CRISTINA SCABBIA
November 20, 2017
LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia has told Metal Wani in a new interview that the band has yet to begin writing material for the follow-up to 2016's "Delirium" album. "We always have new ideas that we're collecting, but in order to create a new record, we definitely need to be home to focus on the record only," she explained (hear audio below). "We don't write when we're on the road, 'cause we don't want the distractions. For us, it's really important to go back to our temple, which is [bassist] Marco's [Coti Zelati] basement, where he has a studio, and bring all the ideas, all the material that we have and create something new. So next year we're definitely gonna start to focus on a new record."
Asked if LACUNA COIL's next disc could see the band pursuing a heavier musical direction, just as was the case with "Delirium", Cristina said: "I believe that it could definitely be even way heavier, because that's what we like to perform on stage. Of course we like the ballads and the mellow songs, but we like better to perform songs that are heavier. And we love that music."
LACUNA COIL will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its debut by playing a very special show, dubbed "Nothing Stands In Our Way", on January 19, 2018 at London, England's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire. The concert will be filmed and recorded for a release later in 2018.
LACUNA COIL's first-ever book, titled "Nothing Stands In Our Way", is scheduled to be published around the world in early 2018. The book is described in a press release as "the full 20-year story of the Italian gothfathers as told by the band in their own words." Illustrated throughout with rare and candid photographs, memorabilia and personal artefacts, it will see founding members Andrea Ferro, Cristina Scabbia and Marco Coti Zelati sifting through the birth, growth and full flowering of the band to tell twenty years of LACUNA COIL.
"Nothing Stands In Our Way" will be available around the world in two editions, the Classic and the limited-run Signature set.
