LAMB OF GOD Bassist Discusses Upcoming 'Deluxe' Reissue Of 'Sacrament'
November 29, 2007Virginia Baker of The News Record recently spoke to LAMB OF GOD bassist John Campbell about the upcoming re-release of the band's latest album, "Sacrament".
"Sacrament", which first hit shelves in August 2006, will be reissued on December 4 as a "deluxe package" with a very special bonus disc, just in time for the holidays.
The bonus disc holds all of the songs from the "Sacrament" album, broken down into bare tracking. With this type of configuration, the fan will be able to mix and produce his or her own version of "Sacrament".
"I haven't seen the final piece, but from what I understand, everything is separated," said Campbell. "You won't be able to change things like kick drum, but the drums are on their own, vocals are on their own, back-up vocals are on their own. You can mix them or replace them with your own."
In essence, any song from the album can be completely redone, or a completely new song can be created. One can load each song onto a computer. The user then applies his creative producing skills to create the sound of his or her choice. Take the bass line from one track, add it to the back up vocals of another, throw in your own drum line, and voilà, you are a music producer. The disc is promised to be compatible with both Mac and PC systems, therefore making it easy for all to use.
The idea of a fan-produced album was brought to Campbell during the band's last tour.
"About two to three weeks ago, it was brought to me by Chris [Alder], our drummer," Campbell said. "It could have been his idea or the idea of the record company, I'm not sure. I think some other people may have done this by releasing one track online and breaking it up like that. I thought it was a great idea."
