MEGADETH Drummer SHAWN DROVER To TOM HUNTING: 'Get Well Soon!'

May 10, 2005

MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"Today I found out that Tom Hunting from EXODU has taken ill and has had to step down from playing drums for the band. I contacted Gary Holt [EXODUS guitarist] to see if this information was indeed true, and alas, unfortunately it is...This saddens me greatly, as I consider Tom a friend of mine, as I do with all of the guys in EXODUS...

"Tom is a drummer that I looked up to when the whole thrash metal scene exploded many moons ago (and I had no problem telling him this many times while we were on tour together). His style is instantly identifiable (at least to my ears),so naturally, I took great pleasure in watching him perform on almost a nightly basis. Glen even played a tune with EXODUS at their soundcheck near the end of the tour ('A Lesson in Violence', if memory serves me ),which was a thrill to watch!!!! I had just joined MEGADETH at the time as well, so it was nice to get a pointer or two from Tom on occasion — just small drum talk, really, but it meant a lot to me at the time.

"Over the course of the North American tour, we in MEGADETH and the EXODUS guys became quite good friends, to the point of jokingly critique-ing each other's performance (mostly EXODUS against Glen and myself) with what we called a 'clam-count' (clam, meaning making a mistake on your instrument onstage) it was all in good fun, of course and it made for such a fantastic possitive tour. One that I won't soon forget.

"I do not know the extent, or what Tom's exact health condition is, but I felt it important to say that I hope he is going to fully recover as fast as possible!!!!!!

"Get well soon, Clammer!!!!!!!"
