September 22, 2007

On September 25 at 8:00 pm, groundbreaking rock band PEARL JAM will be "Framed" — digitally — and on the big screen in multiple theatres and cities across the U.S., thanks to D&E Entertainment, the digital cinema/music marketing imprint selected by the legendary band and Monkeywrench Records (distributed by Rhino Records) to market and distribute the worldwide digital cinema theatrical premiere of PEARL JAM's new concert film, "Immagine In Cornice" (Picture in a Frame). The innovative concert movie chronicles the band's five Italian concerts — including exclusive behind-the-scenes footage – culled from their much heralded 2006 European Tour.

The film will play exclusively in digital cinema — offering movie-goers and music fans an invigorating theatrical concert experience in the ultimate viewing and listening environment — with D&E rolling out the digital red carpet on Tuesday, September 25 at 8:00 p.m. in select theatres across the U.S. including Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis, Boston, San Diego, Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Memphis, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Tulare, Riverbank, Austin, and Las Vegas. Exhibitors include: Mann Theatres, UltraStar Cinemas, Emagine Entertainment, Clearview Cinemas, Classic Cinemas, Wehrenberg Theatres, Malco Theatres, Landmark Theatres, Celebration Cinemas, Rialto Theatres, Galaxy Theatres.

For D&E, their association with PEARL JAM — one of the most digitally savvy forces in music — is a capstone event for the Hollywood-based company in their efforts to harness the digital theatrical experience in a breakthrough amalgam of music and film.

Evan Saxon, Co-President of D&E Entertainment and Doug Kluthe, Co-President of the company, applaud PEARL JAM's embrace of digital cinema technology in opening the new movie: "Unveiling PEARL JAM's 'Immagine In Cornice' in Digital Cinema presents this historic movie in the kind of innovative and comprehensive setting it deserves. With a live show second to none, PEARL JAM is offering music fans and moviegoers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the excitement of their hugely successful 2006 European Tour projected in HD. We are grateful to both Monkeywrench and Rhino for letting us be part of another great chapter in PEARL JAM's historic career."

PEARL JAM's digital-friendly approach in inviting fans to share their expansive legacy has been widely documented, including releasing the first ever totally digitally distributed single to reach the top of the music charts with their web-friendly launch of their 2006 hit "Worldwide Suicide". The band is also known for granting immediate access to sound-board quality live recordings to fans who have attended their concerts, via their web site. Now committed to providing the ultimate fan-friendly concert film, the band's interest in Digital Cinema provides the pinnacle audio and visual experience for audiences who are clamouring for cutting-edge digital quality in a theatre setting.

Featured cities and venues highlighted in the film include: Pala Malaguti in Bologna, the Arena di Verona, the Forum in Milan, Palaisozaki in Torino and Duomo Square in Pistoia, Italy.

"Immagine in Cornice" was directed by renowned photographer, filmmaker and long-time friend of the band Danny Clinch (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN "Devils and Dust", "Live from Bonnaroo 2004") and was shot in High Definition, Super-8 and a number of other formats. The film captures prime stage versions of songs spanning PEARL JAM's career — ranging from "Even Flow" to "Corduroy", including "World Wide Suicide" — providing behind-the-scenes perspective from each show. "Immagine in Cornice" is PEARL JAM's first concert film and DVD release since 2003's "Live at the Garden". Technicolor Digital Cinema is handling all mastering, digitization and distribution of the film.
