QUEENSRŸCHE Guitarist Says Tour With DREAM THEATER Is 'Kicking Ass'
July 30, 2003QUEENSRŸCHE's current tour finds them co-headlining with math-metal cult band DREAM THEATER — a smart consolidation of two bands with similar leanings. "Our music styles complement each other really well," QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Michael Wilton told James Bush of Seattle Weekly. "I know a lot of tours have been suffering, but this one is really kicking ass." After thrusting themselves from a Redmond {Washington] basement to the top of the rock world, QUEENSRŸCHE have now managed a difficult trick: a successful negotiation back to the middle. "It's a long time, and we've been through many different musical changes," said bassist Eddie Jackson. "I never thought in my life that we'd be doing this 20 years later."
"Tribe", the band's new release, marks the temporary reunion of the original QUEENSRŸCHE. Founding member Chris DeGarmo co-wrote three songs ("Doing Fine", "The Art of Life" and "Falling Behind") and contributed the bridge to "Open". Any uncomfortable feelings about the reunion disappeared once the five longtime friends started playing, said Jackson. "The minute we sat down and started working out the music, it was like he never left — the chemistry just clicked." Read more.
