QUEENSRŸCHE Singer TODD LA TORRE: I Never Really Liked The Term 'Rock Star'

October 16, 2014

QUEENSRŸCHE/ex-CRIMSON GLORY singer Todd La Torre has posted the following message on his official Facebook page:

"Random thought: Personally, I never really liked the term 'rock star.' I don't even like being called one when someone does.

"I don't like calling you all 'fans' because in my mind that creates a hierarchy mentality, rock star up here=fans down there, which I don't like. You are all supporters, and we are all in this together. I'm really just a fan of music too that just happens to be doing it on a large scale. On the rare occasion I may have said 'fans of the band' or 'QUEENSRŸCHE has a huge devoted fanbase,' which has a different sentiment (you get my point),but I have never used that word outside of a blanket statement, and surely not for myself.

"I've met several 'rock stars' that are still acting like they are selling out arenas when they aren't. Few in rock/metal can do that, VERY few, and that's still not a hall pass to be rude. Check your ego at the doors and be thankful that people still give enough of a shit to pay their hard-earned money to support you.

"At the end of the day, you will be remembered for the person you are and the music secondary. If you're arrogant, rude, and egotistical... that will be the FIRST thing people remember, no matter how good you are. If you are a good person and you have an off night, most won't mind at all, because they support YOU, thus personality prevails. If you're cool and kick ass, well... all the better.

"I can assure you, EVERYONE in QUEENSRŸCHE is very thankful to you all."

QUEENSRŸCHE is currently working on material for a new studio album, to be released next year via Century Media Records.

QUEENSRŸCHE's self-titled album sold around 13,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 23 on The Billboard 200 chart. The record arrived in stores on June 25, 2013 via Century Media Records.

"Queensrÿche" marked the debut release from the lineup comprised of La Torre, Michael Wilton (guitar),Parker Lundgren (guitar),Eddie Jackson (bass) and Scott Rockenfield (drums).
