Reunited SUBZERO To Record New CD

January 2, 2002

Acclaimed New York hardcore act SUBZERO have reformed and are due to enter the studio in February to begin recording a new full-length album, which is scheduled to be released in the spring through Century Media Records in Europe. No American deal has yet been secured for the record, which will feature the band's original line-up minus bassist Larry Susi, who is currently fronting his own band CRUSADE. Along with Larry's replacement in the group, Jason Kaflan, SUBZERO have added a second guitarist (Larry Nieroda) to the group's line-up in order to attain a “thicker” sound. The band's as-yet-untitled sophomore album will reportedly feature a very diverse selection of songs with influences ranging from classic CRO-MAGS-style hardcore to PENNYWISE/DESCENDENTS-style punk to Oi to SICK OF IT ALL-style sing-alongs to HOUSE OF PAIN- and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE-influenced rap and hip hop. The reunited band's first show in five years will take place at New York City's CBGBs and will be followed by a three-week headlining European mini-tour, which is scheduled to begin on March 23rd at the European Hardcore Party (with IGNITE) in the Netherlands and end on April 14th in Amsterdam. A Japanese tour is set to follow in May. For more SUBZERO info, interviews or bookings, e-mail singer Lu at: [email protected]. (source: Jamey Jasta Metal and Hardcore News)
