SEPULTURA Guitarist: 'We Need No Politicians To Do The Stuff We Need For Ourselves'

August 3, 2007

SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser has issued the following update:

"Living and learning. It's amazing to be a part of a band that have the privilege of travel the world so many times. Today, I've walked around Jena, a city that used to be East Germany, very nice people and beautiful buildings. I knew a little bit about Goethe, Johann W. Goethe the great German poet. But, he was not only the writer of 'Faust' but a far bigger genius. His influence in Jena is felt everywhere. Between the years of 1775 to 1830, he came here to write and to help. He made and inspired many improvements in the city like road construction and modernization of the city structure. He also was a scientist responsible for the creation of the botanical gardens, where he lived while in town, the creation of the Jena University library, from his own books, wrote on anatomy, mineralogy, botany. Truly a genius like the others of Einstein and Da Vinci. Amazing! We need no politicians to do the stuff we need for ourselves. We only need the inspiration and guidance of brilliant minds that understands and respects the planet and the human nature."

Andreas was born in Brazil in 1968 and started playing acoustic guitar in 1981, learning the basic chords with popular Brazilian music. He later discovered KISS and QUEEN, and that changed his life. In his early years Andreas was hugely influenced by OZZY, BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN, TWISTED SISTER, WHITESNAKE, VENOM and METALLICA. He learnt a lot from all those guitarists, plus bands like PINK FLOYD and YES and guitarists such as Eric Clapton, John Williams, Romero Brothers, Leo Brower, Baden Powell, Villa Lobos, etc.

Andreas joined SEPULTURA in 1987 after meeting the band on a holiday. He recorded his first LP, "Schizophrenia", the same year. With that album SEPULTURA got a contract to release the next record worldwide.

Andreas is currently on the road with SEPULTURA, touring all over the world. He is also working on his first solo album, which he hopes to release in early 2008.
