SILVERCHAIR To Ring In New Year With Hometown Show
September 26, 2006Australia's SILVERCHAIR has confirmed rumors that it will ring in the New Year with a special one-off hometown show.
The acclaimed, multi-platinum selling group will perform at the Queens Wharf Brewery on December 31 with special guests THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS, SOMETHING WITH NUMBERS and a local bandcomp winner.
"It will be great to get a chance to play to all our friends and family again," said SILVERCHAIR drummer Ben Gillies. "Doing this gig will save us all from throwing any New Year's Eve parties, we can just invite everyone down to this gig instead! We're also really pleased that BEAUTIFUL GIRLS and SOMETHING WITH NUMBERS have agreed to be part of it too — it should be fun."
Tickets will go on sale to the general public from Thursday, October 5.
The group's recently announced Sydney show at the Homebake Festival sold out within hours. Demand is also expected to be very strong for their Newcastle gig as it will be their first concert in the Hunter region for over three and a half years.
2007 is shaping up as a big one for SILVERCHAIR, with their new album scheduled for release sometime in the first half of that year. Recording of the as-yet-untitled disc has been completed but mixing will not take place until close to Christmas due to scheduling reasons. SILVERCHAIR will also appear at the Pyramid Festival in Victoria on December 30 and they are expected to unveil some of their new tunes at these forthcoming shows.
