SLIPKNOT Frontman To Pay Tribute To TENACIOUS D At Des Moines Gig

January 9, 2006

According to The Des Moines Register, SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor will return to the House of Bricks in Des Moines, Iowa on January 21 for another unusual show when he performs with Josh Brainard (ON A PALE HORSE, ex-SLIPKNOT) as part of AUSPICIOUS P, a tribute to Jack Black's comedy duo TENACIOUS D. FACECAGE, ON A PALE HORSE and KNUCKLEBONE are also on the bill.

Taylor performed with cover band DUM FUX as part of his annual New Year's Eve at the House of Bricks. The group was made up of Taylor, guitarist Denny Harvey, bassist Steve McGuire and drummer Joey Corigliano. They perform just one show of punk and metal covers a year. In addition to Taylor, members of ODIUM, ONLY, FACECAGE and ON A PALE HORSE handle vocals on some songs.

"We first got together about 10 years ago and played a garage party," Corigliano told The Des Moines Register. "Seven years later we played our second show. Corey and Denny brought it back just to get together for fun and jam with friends."

STONE SOUR, which features Taylor and SLIPKNOT guitarist Jim Root, are writing and rehearsing new material at home in Iowa and will begin recording their second album on January 25.

Root recently told Launch that the band will work at FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl's studio in Los Angeles.

STONE SOUR's new album will follow up the group's 2002 self-titled debut, which went gold and featured the hit single, "Bother".
