SOILWORK Singer Explains Lack Of Solos On New Album

March 9, 2005

SOILWORK vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"First of all, thank you so much for all the positive reactions on the new album! It also feels great that SOILWORK is giving a lot of inspiration to the people out there both in a musical and a personal way, this gives me and the band a lot of inspiration in return to continue with what we're doing!

"I saw this question regarding the solos: I do understand your point and that you've wondered where the solos went... For SOILWORK it's really a matter of transformation, we always work with the melodies but it usually turn out in a different shape on each album (in a very natural way),it's not a matter of broaden the fanbase, it's matter of doing what we like. The melodic vocals has taken over some of the guitar melodies and we feel that there's no reason for us to add a solo just because. We really focus on capturing the essence of the song itself… Hope you understand.

"There are some people asking about tabs, I will make sure that this will happen a.s.a.p! I will kick Ola's butt and make him nail down those shreds on paper...

"About European dates: Our first tour will be in the States and when the tour is finished we're in the month of may and then the festivals start, so it might take a while before we tour Europe... I would say that this would happen sometime in September/October. Have patience my friends, we have not forgotten about you!!

"I'm down in Hamburg right now recording with my project together with the drummer from BLIND GUARDIAN, Thomen.... Everything is shaping up just fine..."
