THE ILLUMINATI Sign With LIQUOR AND POKER MUSIC

September 14, 2005

Toronto-based, turbo-charged boogie rock trio THE ILLUMINATI have inked a deal with Liquor and Poker Music. The group – guitarist Les Godfrey, bassist Nick Sewell and drummer Jim Gering – have actually had clandestine talks with the company for more than a year now. Five months ago, the band even performed at the label's inaugural South By Southwest showcase in Austin, Texas, when their recording contract had only a few I's left to be dotted.

This Thursday, Sept. 15, THE ILLUMINATI will play Liquor and Poker's inaugural CMJ showcase, which will take place at The Continental in New York City. (Also performing will be labelmates FIREBALL MINISTRY, THE BLACK HALOS, CRASH KELLY and THE THIEVES.) In October, the group will then play alongside DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 — the opening act on the upcoming NINE INCH NAILS/QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE tour — at two Southern California shows.

During these performances, the band will preview material from their full-length debut, "On Borrowed Time" — which Liquor and Poker will release next spring — as well as their new self-titled EP. The EP will soon be able to be pre-ordered for only $3 at the Liquor and Poker Musicweb site, where both a video and MP3 of its standout track, "On My Way Back Home…Again", has been posted.
