TOOL Reportedly Has Two Albums Of Material, But Only Five Songs They Like
October 27, 2016According to The Pulse Of Radio, TOOL guitarist Adam Jones reportedly told fans during a meet-and-greet session prior to the band's show this week in Salt Lake City that he, drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor have been working on new music three days a week. While he said that they have two albums' worth of material prepared, he added that only five of those songs meet the "TOOL standard" and that singer Maynard James Keenan has yet to write or sing lyrics for anything.
A report on Reddit also states that Jones played the attendees a riff from one of the new songs.
One fan who attended said that Jones explained about Keenan's involvement: "Once 90% of the instrumentals are there, Maynard comes in to write (that's how Maynard likes to work)."
There is still no timetable for the new TOOL album's release or even the beginning of its recording sessions.
Jones told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that he never likes to set a date for an album's arrival. "I don't want to predict, 'cause every time we do, it comes out, 'Oh, TOOL says the record's gonna be done by the end of the year,'" he said. "So I'm not gonna say."
TOOL is in the middle of a short U.S. tour which includes a headlining performance at the popular Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans.
