ALICE IN CHAINS: Seattle Show To Become 3D Movie
October 7, 2010According to The Seattle Times, ALICE IN CHAINS's hometown show in Seattle this Friday (October 8) will be recorded and produced by the New Jersey company HDlogix for a 3D movie.
Directing the photography will be Jeff Cronenweth, cinematographer of movies such as "The Social Network" and "Fight Club". His brother, ad director Tim Cronenweth, will direct the concert movie.
After post-production is done, the 3D version of the concert will be shown in theaters and released on Blu-ray 3D discs.
HDLogix is a media and entertainment company specializing in 3D. The company most recently worked on the 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and several concert events.
The gig is part of the band's current BlackDiamondSkye tour, which recently brought ALICE IN CHAINS to New York City to headline the legendary Madison Square Garden. Singer/guitarist William DuVall told The Pulse of Radio he was overwhelmed by the place even before hitting the stage. "Walking the hallways with all these historic portraits on the wall, you know, everyone from Elvis to Sly Stone, you know, to Dylan and just on and on, you know — it's just history, history, history, history. Not to mention all the fights and all the basketball games. It's just endless, and so you can't help but be overtaken by that."
The BlackDiamondSkye tour, which also features DEFTONES and MASTODON, pulls into Vancouver on Thursday (October 7).
ALICE IN CHAINS is touring behind its 2009 album, "Black Gives Way To Blue", the group's first all-new release in 14 years.
DuVall joined the band when it was reactivated in 2006. Original singer Layne Staley died in April 2002 of a drug overdose.
