Ex-DAMAGEPLAN Singer Pays Tribute To Former Guitar Tech; New THE MERCY CLINIC MP3 Posted Online
September 12, 2005THE MERCY CLINIC, the new San Francisco Bay Area-based band featuring former DAMAGEPLAN frontman Patrick Lachman, guitarists Brian Harrah (PROFESSIONAL MURDER MUSIC) and Josh Stinson (DRIST),bassist Steed Najera (TRIPLE SEVEN),and drummer Bevan Davies (DANZIG, COMES WITH THE FALL, JERRY CANTRELL),have uploaded a full-length MP3 of another brand-new song, "Numb" (mp3),as well as several new promo shots, courtesy of Chad Lee.
In a posting on the band's official website, Patrick Lachman also pays tribute to his former HALFORD guitar tech, the late Clint Letulier, a Louisiana native who passed away last month in California.
"There are many things on my mind. Today is 9/11, just to start. I had a long chat with a friend last night that knew Dime since they were just kids. Fuck, that dredged up some memories. I felt emotions that have been suppressed for a long time. The kind that don't go away if you just ignore them. Everything from tears to the kind of laughter that hurts from its sincerity. I thought of Mayhem, too. I never want his memory to be eclipsed by anyone else's just because people didn't know him. He was an amazing person and a good friend. Then there is Clint... damn... another fucking knife in my heart....
"Clint Letulier was a good friend of mine. I had just mentioned his name just days, maybe even hours before learning of his death. Maybe I had felt a ripple in the universe or something... I was just telling the guys how he would be my first choice to come work with THE MERCY CLINIC. He was a guy that could do it all. Having met him already, Brian quickly agreed.
"Clint and I met when we worked together during my HALFORD days. We became friends due to his overwhelmingly great personality. I can't begin to describe his attributes. He was just one of 'those guys.' He worked for many, many people who have their own stories I'm sure, but here is just one that exemplifies his golden personality for me. Clint and I both lived in Los Angeles. He worked with Johnny Tempesta as his drum tech for years. When he would come home between tours with [ROB/WHITE] ZOMBIE, he would come work gigs for DIESEL MACHINE. He'd call and ask me, 'When and where?" He would show up and hump gear and never accept a penny from me. Why? Why would someone go out of their way to work for free? I'll tell you. There was a genuine love of music and more importantly, a love of good people in that man's heart. I'm lucky to have had him consider me one of those people. I feel for his wife, his son, his family, and his friends. I hurt beyond description. His reasons for checking out early will never truly be explained, or accepted...
"Love you and miss you, brother."
"So tonight, I offer in loving memory of all the above mentioned and those whose praise is unsung, a simple song. A song from my heart. Some of the darkest emotions to ever scar my soul..."
