Japanese All-Girl Trio GALLHAMMER: Video Interview Available
October 5, 2007René Ackermann of UK's Contraband Candy conducted an interview with Japanese all-girl trio GALLHAMMER at the band's first-ever live gig out of Japan. Watch the 10-minute chat below.
GALLHAMMER released its new album, "Ill Innocence", on September 24 via Peaceville Records.
Following the introduction (for many people) in early 2007 to this extra-special band, with the release of "The Dawn of…" (a CD/DVD of demo/rehearsal material with a ton of live footage),the much-anticipated Peaceville debut was recorded and mixed by Makota Fujishima of Weird Truth Productions in Japan during late 2006/early 2007 and was mastered in Oslo by Nocturno Culto of black metal legends DARKTHRONE.
Although GALLHAMMER has been known primarily as a black metal/punk/crust act, the album is impressively diverse, showing their implementation of many influences and moods from both metal and non-metal genres. The themes are based around isolation, oppression, a world without colour, with bassist/vocalist Vivian Slaughter describing the imagery as "delirium — [like] being in a midday nightmare under the scorching sunshine"; all wrapped in sheer poetic gloom. "Ill Innocence" also features recordings of the tracks "Speed of Blood" and "At the Onset of the Age of Despair", as previewed in demo form on "The Dawn of…" A GALLHAMMER mini-site containing downloads, album info, new tracks, and CD/t-shirt bundles can be found at this location.
