SHADOWS FALL Frontman Is Looking Forward To OZZFEST Kick-Off

July 14, 2005

AS I LAY DYING guitarist Nick Hipa and SHADOWS FALL frontman Brian Fair spoke to the Boston Herald about their participation in this year's Ozzfest, which kicks off Friday (July 15) in Mansfield, MA.

"I have to admit I'm kind of intimidated by some of the talent on that stage every day,'' said Hipa. "But I'm honored we're playing with BLACK SABBATH and IRON MAIDEN. IRON MAIDEN, they're one of the bands that are larger than life."

"It's insane," Fair said of the opportunity to play this year's festival. "We feel like it's cool because we had the graduation thing with Ozzfest. We had the side stage (last year) and that propelled us to the next level. For them to honor that and give us this slot, is amazing."

For Fair, the fact that Ozzfest is kicking off in his Bay State backyard makes the thrill just a little bit sweeter.

"We're just stoked to be part of it," he said. "We see this as an opportunity that a million bands would kill for, so we're just going to come out and destroy it every night. Forget about the seats. It's time to just get up and have a good time."
