SOIL Guitarist Comments On Singer's Departure

SOIL guitarist Shaun Glass spoke with Electricbasement.com's Jeff Kerby about the recent departure of the group's vocalist, Ryan McCombs, "It wasn’t really a surprise at all, really," Glass said. "I think it was a case where it was basically time for us to move on. We had done some records, and they're good, but I think maybe he thought he couldn't take it to the next level. He was just kind of burned out, and I think he wanted to stay at home with his family — his wife and kid. It's just kind of weird though, you know, the four of us founded this band, and now we're back looking for another lead singer all over again."

The band also has issues with their now-former record company, J Records, not supporting their recent album, "Redefine", as much as the band wanted. Still, Glass says the band will go on, "It's not hard at all. It's just perseverance, my man. We eat, breathe, shit and sleep this band. It's what we do. If Ryan wasn't committed at that level, then the time had just come for us to move on and just keep doing what we love and just try to improve on it. Losing a vocalist doesn't have to be a negative thing. We just need a singer who knows what to do and doesn't complain. I just think that Ryan was unhappy and that maybe he's got some soulsearching to do. We've got to move on though — this is what we want to do."
